Full membership

To become a member of the Baden-Württemberg Chamber of Architects, you must have successfully completed a relevant course of higher education study of at least four years' duration (usually a bachelor's and master's degree), have gained at least two years' supervised professional experience in all phases of the profession, and provide evidence of employment in Baden-Württemberg.

In exceptional cases, § 4 Abs. 4 ArchG may be invoked (further information in German).

All applicants must submit:

  • A fully completed and signed Antrag (application form)
  • Evidence of at least a 4 year degree in the relevant field.
    • Applicants with German degrees:
      • Authenticated degree documents listing all courses taken (Bachelor's, Master's, Diploma)
      • Authenticated certificates of each degree
    • Applicant with foreign degrees:
      • Authenticated degree documents listing all courses taken (Bachelor's, Master's, Diploma)
      • Authenticated certificates of each degree
      • If the documents and certificates are not in German: authenticated German translations
  • Evidence of two years practical experience, completed in full and signed by the applicant and the supervising architect/urban planner.
  • Registration certificate (not more than three months old at the time of application)
  • Original police clearance certificate (not more than three months old at the time of application)

Additional documents when changing from AiP/SiP to full membership:

  • Proof of completed professional training (minimum 40 hours)
