Full membership
To become a member of the Baden-Württemberg Chamber of Architects, you must have successfully completed a relevant course of higher education study of at least four years' duration (usually a bachelor's and master's degree), have gained at least two years' supervised professional experience in all phases of the profession, and provide evidence of employment in Baden-Württemberg.
In exceptional cases, § 4 Abs. 4 ArchG may be invoked (further information in German).
Information for special cases
It is possible to be registered in both the architectural and urban planning disciplines. To do so, you must provide evidence of at least 240 ECTS credits from a completed university degree in both disciplines. Supervised practical experience must also be completed in both disciplines – at least 1.5 years in each, spread across all professional tasks. Please also provide evidence of at least 30 continuing professional development points in each discipline.
Further information (German only; in the context of junior membership, but the requirements also apply to full membership)
In addition to two years’ professional experience, a completed university degree is a prerequisite for registration. The university degree does not necessarily have to be consecutive, i.e. built upon one another. If you have accumulated at least 240 ECTS credits in more than one subject area, you may be eligible for registration in two subject areas.
The phenomenon of non-sequential degree programmes is particularly common in urban planning. For interested urban planners with non-sequential degree programmes, Information Sheet 360 provides further details.
